Cards, comics, records, magazines, memorabilia, and household valuables can be minted. A signature is optional. The badge tells buyers which evidence layer exists and what it does not prove. For trading cards, an Open Card Passport makes those facts usable by outside games.
HaloVault sealed the item's photo-first record with camera evidence, available EXIF facts, a tamper-evident HaloCert hash, and an RFC 3161 timestamp when available.

A card mint automatically receives one stable HV-CARD-… Passport. Any TCG or tournament platform can read its mint and authentication facts through HaloVault’s free API without HaloVault hosting the game.
A mint preserves the item’s permanent photo-first identity. HaloWitness is the planned fresh layer on top: each successful Witness or ReWitness will append a new point-in-time possession event to that same item and its public HaloCert history without rewriting the original mint.
HaloWitness will record point-in-time possession evidence. It will not prove legal ownership, authenticity, grade, value, or continuous custody.
