PRELIMINARY RAW GUIDE · LOW CONFIDENCE

$180–$300

Preliminary raw guide · low confidence

Two same-printing raw copies described as Very good sold for $185 and $305. The latter explicitly disclosed a crease and scratches. The rounded working guide applies to a similarly worn, authentic base copy; it is not a numerical grade or a guaranteed offer.

How we arrived at this estimate

Editorial working range rounded from two primary sold records at $185 and $305 for the same white-border Topps #24, both seller-described Very good. These two condition-affected copies are a small comparison set, not the full market. No grade or grading-premium multiplier is applied.

Assumptions: Assumes an authentic 2008–09 Topps base #24 with wear broadly comparable to the references. The submitted corner/edge damage is visible, but surface condition, alterations and an actual grade cannot be established from forum photos. More severe damage, a different printing or a different selling venue can put a result outside this guide.

Two condition-affected raw copies sold for $185 and $305 before shipping and tax. They support a cautious $180–$300 working guide for a similarly worn base copy. Grading should earn back its cost: at an illustrative $30 all-in grading cost and 13% selling fee, a $185 raw alternative requires at least $219.49 graded resale to break even. That is a financial threshold, not a forecast that the card will reach it.

Both original market evidence listings were inspected in the normal browser and showed SOLD with these item prices. The $305 listing showed 30 bids and disclosed crease/scratch damage in its title. The $185 reference front and back confirm the white-border base design, #24 and ©2008. These are two different physical cards; their price difference is not evidence of a market trend or a measured condition premium.

The $305 auction ended August 31, 2026 at 20:14:00 PDT; the secondary index calls it September 1, so it is counted only once using the primary date. The $185 original shows September 13, 2026 at 12:45:33 PDT. Its interface has a Buy It Now summary and a 1-bid detail; it is described here simply as a sold listing. Shipping ($4.95 and $6.80 respectively) and tax are excluded. Payment completion and physical condition were not independently authenticated.

What was included and excluded?

Active asking prices, unsourced forum suggestions, price-guide estimates and inaccessible original graded listings are excluded from the sold chart. No verified graded transaction is used and no numerical grade is assigned to the submitted card. Chrome, Gold and other parallel prices are not interchangeable with this white-border base card.

THE GRADING DECISION

What does grading need to earn back?

EDITABLE WHAT-IF

The $185 starting raw price is one verified historical sale of a different copy. The $220 graded sale, $30 incremental all-in grading cost and 13% selling fee are editable examples, not a graded comp, current fee quote or grade forecast. The same fee is applied to both sale alternatives. The example needs $219.49 gross graded resale to match the raw alternative; an actual grade and resale price remain unknown. This calculator does not predict a grade, a sale price or the chance of a grading outcome.

Your assumptions

Compare selling this card raw with grading it first

What you assume you could sell the raw card for, before fees.

Include grading, shipping, insurance and other added costs. This is not a fee quote.

The same selling fee percentage applies to both alternatives.

An editable scenario, not a verified graded comp or an expected selling price.

See the calculation

Raw net = raw gross × (1 − fee). Graded net = graded gross × (1 − fee) − added grading costs. Break-even graded gross = raw gross + added costs ÷ (1 − fee), rounded up to the next cent.

Fee is entered as a percentage. This comparison excludes the shared purchase cost of the card. Add every incremental grading cost above; other taxes and costs are not modeled.

PULL ODDS

Base identity, not numbered rarity.

This white-border base card has no observed serial stamp. A total print run and applicable manufacturer pack odds were not verified; no rarity or pull probability is inferred from the popularity of the photograph.

The submitted public front shows the white-border Topps card with Kobe driving while LeBron defends. Its reverse visibly confirms #24 and ©2008; the separate corner close-up shows condition issues. The independent seller reference has the same front design and reverse identification. This report covers the 2008–09 Topps base card, not Topps Chrome or a numbered parallel, and the reference photo is a different physical copy.
